Story
On 9th November, Toby Hunt and Ali Lyon will run the Marathon des Alpes Maritimes, from Nice to Cannes.
Going on a 26-mile run that hugs the French Riviera doesn't - we'll admit - sound like the most horrible thing to endure.
But we hope one of the grim, rainy, solo 30k-er that Ali plodded through last weekend, the joint run through the Surrey Hills that left both of us sick for three hours, or the fact our method of commuting has become 'jogging' several times a week sounds sufficiently unappealing that they persuade you to part with some cash for Ace.
And what a cause Ace is. Ali has been involved in the charity - based out in Tanzania and Kenya - for some 12 years. In early 2012, he along with two school friends and his tutor went out there for two months to help set up an interschool football league with the aim of reducing truancy rates from rural primary schools.
The football tournament is - rather gratifyingly - not only still going but has flourished, involving more schools every year. It is also a small portion of the wide-reaching portfolio of incredible work Ace and its team does to help children and families in east Africa reach their potential - be that HIV education and testing, setting up clean water stations at schools, improving reproductive health and so much more.
