Story
A bit of me and how I got to know ECHO. Francesca and I have been living in London for the last 3 years. I met ECHO through Francesca’s job at the Evelina Hospital and I participated to some charity events organised by ECHO. I could truly experience and touch the positive impact that ECHO brings to the families with children affected by heart conditions. I sympathised with their work, since my family didn’t get the chance to receive the same support when, as a kid, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I live my condition as a stimulus, it helped me growing faster and taught me not be indifferent to others’ pain. And made my life grow with sport! That’s why after taking ECHO with me to Paris for a 20km run in 2023, I will now run the London Landmark Half Marathon! The best way to merge my passion for running with the willingness to support ECHO and their invaluable work!
ECHO works with children and young people who receive treatment for heart conditions at Evelina London and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, and their network of local hospitals. They’ll use the grant to continue providing emotional and practical support for families while their child is in hospital and are a crucial support network as their child grows up. This includes sending ECHO Care packs to families full of information about how they can keep in touch with the ECHO community and connect with other families.
