Story
On 10th June 2026, we’re taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for Young at Heart — a charity that have supported our family through the most difficult journey of our lives.
The 3 Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in the UK in 24 hours — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon.
Our son, Albert, was born with HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome), a rare and life-threatening congenital heart condition. At just 5 days old, Albert underwent his first open-heart surgery. At 5 months old, Albert faced his second open- heart surgery. Once again, our world stopped while we waited, hoped, and trusted the incredible medical teams at Birmingham Childrens Hospital.
Albert will still need at least one more open-heart surgery in the coming years, along with lifelong medical care. HLHS is a terminal condition - there is no cure - and while we focus on giving Albert the happiest, fullest life possible, we live with constant uncertainty about what the future holds.
Throughout this journey, Young at Heart have been there for us, providing support, understanding and reassurance. Every donation, no matter how small, helps this charity continue their vital work and give heart families the support, comfort and community that we have received.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Albert, our family, and this incredible charity 💙
