In our community, we have a number of families that are affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND). With MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste, which can affect how people walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some also get changes to their thinking and behaviour, but the disease affects everyone differently.

All learners across the 3-16 will be completing an hour of exercise, which they will be sponsored for.

The date for this to take place is 23/02/2024

The funds we raise will go directly to the Motor Neurone Disease Association (registered charity: no. 294354), to assist funding a cure for this dreadful disease. We will also invite the families directly affected by this cruel disease into school, where we will present the final amount raised in an assembly.

MND in Abertillery has affected the lives of many, and already so many wonderful fundraising events have taken place within the community. Being a community school, this would be a small but positive contribution to help
