Story
The Alder Ward team would like to fundraise for some wheelchairs and activities for our day room to assist our patients on the ward.
This would allow us to take more patients out into our new garden space and also engage in activities to assist with their rehab journey. The focus of this is to improve patients' mental health, motivation towards the exercise programs and most importantly avoiding deconditioning during their hospital stay.
Our therapy assistant Louise has a passion for deconditioning as patients come to the ward often much weaker and less mobile than their previous baseline. The aim is to recondition them back as close to their original baseline by additional activities that what the physiotherapists already provide.
To celebrate 75 years of the NHS the challenge is to complete 750 miles in 75 days by both the patients and staff at Alder Ward.
Please donate to motivate us to achieve this huge goal. Patients will participate through the static biking machine on the ward and the extra walking they do with us. Staff will be involved through any physical activity to also boost their physical and mental health. This challenge will commence on the 3rd July.
Thank you for any donations that will help improve the ward in terms of the rehabilitation we can offer and the improved morale of our patients whilst they are with us.
