In 2024, we proudly chose Macmillan Cancer Support East Yorkshire as our charity partner and dedicated the year to raising funds for a cause that is close to all of our hearts.

To support our fundraising efforts, we organised our own triathlon challenge in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympics. Our journey began with a 284-mile cycling challenge to Dover, completed on static bikes at our local Driffield gym. We then swam the equivalent of the English Channel, covering 1,352 lengths in a 25-metre pool. To finish the challenge, we walked or ran the 181 miles from Calais to Paris, completing all of this before the Opening Ceremony.

This was a particularly meaningful campaign, as many of our team members have been personally affected by cancer, whether directly or through loved ones. Sadly, in 2023, we lost a long-standing and highly regarded client, Mike Falkingham, to cancer. Mike was a well-known and much-respected member of the community and was held in the highest regard by the entire Aldgate team—from the vets who worked with him on the farm to our client care team who saw him regularly. Mike had an infectious enthusiasm for life and brought joy to those around him. He was truly one of life’s good people, and our fundraising efforts were proudly carried out in his memory.

Our team was fully committed to raising as much money as possible for this vital cause. With the knowledge that just £29 funds a Macmillan nurse for an hour—providing crucial medical, practical and emotional support to people living with cancer—we were determined to make a difference. All donations were directed specifically to the East Riding Committee Funds, ensuring local impact.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are eager to continue our support for Macmillan Cancer Support East Yorkshire. Building on the momentum and success of our 2024 campaign, we are already planning new initiatives and remain dedicated to supporting this essential charity and the incredible work it does for individuals and families affected by cancer.
