Hi , Thanks for visiting my just giving page ! I’m hoping to raise £250 for the Alzhemier’s Society in memory of my grandparents. Please consider donating , every little will help no matter how small .

Both my grandparents were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and although I had heard about it before, seeing the change and suffering of my grandparents and those caring for them as this awful disease took hold, made me realise how ignorant I had been about the symptoms , severity and destruction Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia causes. Eventually my family and I lost the kindest, most caring , quick witted and fun loving duo to this cruel disease.

My granny and granda, Alec & June, played a big role in my childhood in Belfast, and I now find myself trying to follow their example with my own wife and kids. They were pillars of their community and hugely popular figures, known for their love of music and dancing, in any social setting they did not need much persuasion to get up for a song and a dance , much to the audience’s delight . Both could hold a tune but the roles were definitely designated in this dynamic duo as granny the dancer and granda the lead singer! Even walking to the local shop would take an age as each person stopped to talk to them , or pulled their car over to say hello and often left laughing or with a smile.

I know that raising a few pounds here will not cure Alzheimer’s on it’s own ,for now it will go towards research for a cure, helping others living with it and their loved ones caring for them . However I am hopeful one day there will be a cure or prevention and to be able to be a small part of that together with you from this fundraising and your kind donations would be fantastic.

From August 1st - August 31st 2024 I plan on running 62 miles . Those of you who know me well will know that since stopping football years ago I have steadily grown to the size of a large semi detached house , so running 62 miles will be no easy task, but I’m confident I can do it and my son Alfie will hopefully join me for the last few miles

I will keep you posted how I get on .
