I ride with Texas 4000 to pursue an opportunity for change that fills me with hope. I hold immense pride in being a part of a group that is taking action to make the world a place in which the woes of this disease are seen in the rearview. My mother, grandfather, and uncle, all of which have been affected by cancer, are why I ride.

My mother was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma when I was seven. Mom never let it show that she was going through intense treatments. She kept her undying positivity and love for others throughout it all. My mom has been treated periodically since that time but, thankfully, is now in remission. I ride to help ensure she never has to face cancer again.

My grandfather has been treated for bladder cancer within the past three years (and colon cancer previously) and recently received the good news of a clear scan. He has undergone numerous procedures to keep his cancer at bay, many of which have had steep recoveries. My grandfather never lets it show, though. His resilience inspires me. I ride to make him proud and to fill him with hope.

Finally, I ride for my late uncle, Kendall Bizzell. Kendall was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010. After an 11-year battle, he passed away in April of 2021. Watching Kendall fight for his life for those 11 years was both inspiring and heartbreaking. Kendall taught me what it truly meant to be a fighter, what it truly meant to never lose hope. To his last day, Kendall maintained his light and his love for others. I ride in his memory.
