Story
In 2022, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and affects around 1 in 7 women. Many people know my mum through me or QES and know what an incredible person she is. She constantly goes above and beyond and has done an infinite amount for so many people. During her cancer treatment, my mum continued to put everyone around her before herself despite fighting her own battle. She housed two Ukrainian refugees, helped countless people in the local area who she continued to support after the pandemic, and supported our family as she has always done.
Luckily, my mum was able to beat her cancer and is now back to enjoying her life. She wouldn't have been able to do this, however, without the fantastic support of the CancerCare team at Lancaster.
CancerCare is a local cancer and bereavement charity that helps people discover their capacity for life when times are tough - with the professional help, emotional support and collective strength to face whatever's next.
More than 90% of CancerCare's work is funded by people like you who donate or fundraise.
CancerCare helped my mum massively both during and after treatment and offered outstanding support to her and our family.
My mum is the best person I know and I don't know where I would be without her. This summer I'll be running the 2024 Leeds Marathon and she has chosen CancerCare as the charity she'd like to raise money for. I'd love to raise as much as possible for the people that helped my mum and so many others.
Any donation is massively appreciated and please check yourself regularly - cancer can affect anyone.
