We provide free, one-to-one confidential counselling support to young people in St Albans, Harpenden and surrounding areas.

Story

This June, I'm taking on the challenge of walking the St Albans Half Marathon in support of Youth Talk.

Somewhere in-between juggling my new role at Youth Talk and getting married, I will be training week by week to achieve a distance that sounds a little scary to me at the moment.

For full transparency, I'm starting out my training with only a handful of km capacity and a bit of a wobbly right quad and knee, and I will be taking almost daily small walks, with a long walk each week and a strength session, increasing the distance each time. Starting W/o 9th March with 5km!

I chose to support Youth Talk for this challenge because (while I might be slightly biased), I believe that young people deserve to have appropriate mental health support whenever they need it. Growing up today is so hard, and the world is full of uncertainties.

Youth Talk’s mission is to provide the best, possible mental health support to young people in St Albans and the surrounding areas. It's important that young people have a safe, trustworthy, calm and professional environment, to feel comfortable in and share whatever is on their mind. Youth Talk can offer this.

Without Youth Talk I would have continued to have unhealthy relationships and low self esteem, I wouldn’t have learnt to be kind to myself either - CP, service user

Youth Talk saved me from going down a dark hole in the place I was in at the time. - Ramneek, service user

Thanks to your donations and support of my fundraising, Youth Talk can continue to provide local young people with one-to-one counselling support during a real time of need.

Follow my journey across the coming weeks, and if you're able to, I'd appreciate it if you could support my fundraiser - every little helps 💙.
