Over the last 18 months, I have taken up running for my own health and fitness. I have accomplished a lot since I start but my journey is far from over.

The next stage of my journey is to complete a race, so what better race to do than the Chester Metric Marathon!! I have never run in a proper race before, never ran more than 10 miles before, so this 16.3-mile race will be a huge challenge for me. Not only is running 16.3 miles going to be tough, but I must also run it in less than 4 hours. which is currently my predicted completion time!

So, as this is a huge challenge for me, I thought why not try and raise some money for a charity that has helped my family, and many, many others. Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children's Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 330,000 patients and families they care for every year. Their charity funds specialist medical equipment which ensures their brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up-to-date state-of-the-art technology available to them – often equipment that is just not available yet via the NHS.

I can't emphasise the importance of how much donations help, so please, if you can spare anything, help me reach my target of £250, which can be doubled with matched funding through Lloyds Banking Group.
