Story
In April 2027, I will be taking on the challenge of running the 10th anniversary edition of the London Landmarks Half Marathon. I am running in memory of Francine Vassiliou (Mother in Law) and on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer UK.
7 in 10 people with pancreatic cancer are told when they are diagnosed that there is no treatment available for them and with that the chance of survival is taken away. This is partly due to late diagnosis being prevalent and by the time of detection fixing it isn't an option. Given how far we have come with other cancer treatments I think it important that we raise some funds towards to improve this situation.
This was the situation which Fran faced in January 2023 with little treatment options available. Anyone who knew Fran would agree that she lived life to the full and being in her presence made your day better and she would do anything to help anyone and I have lost count of the times she helped Lisa and I. Therefore seeking to raise some funds to contribute towards better treatments has to be a good thing!
As I didn’t get a full marathon place (despite the double ballot this year) I have decided to also run the Exeter (13th September 2026), Weston-super-Mare Half(4th October 2026), Taunton Half (28th February 2027) in the build up to the London Landmarks Half on 4th April 2027. So 4 Halfs in total!
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
