Story
As I'm sure you've heard, I'll be running the Rome Marathon on 22 March 2026 - precisely one year since my first half marathon race. I promised that race would be it for me, but here we are again! Training started in earnest back in October, and as of mid January, I've run around 300 km alongside other training activities. I don't have a specific time in mind for finishing the race; just crossing that finish line is enough for me. However, a sub-four-hour finish would be a nice bonus!
My charity of choice is Encephalitis International. Many of you may already know that this incredible organisation provided vital support to my niece when she suffered from encephalitis as a baby. If you're not familiar with encephalitis, it's important to understand its impact: worldwide, three people are diagnosed with this serious condition every minute. Caused by infections or autoimmune diseases, encephalitis can affect anyone at any time.
This condition is acutely serious and carries high mortality rates, leaving many survivors with acquired brain injuries that can affect them physically and impact their memory, thinking, and personality for the rest of their lives. Encephalitis International's mission is to rebuild the futures of those affected by this condition: saving lives, raising awareness, and driving research.
I am aiming to raise £1,000 for this amazing charity. If you are able to contribute even a small amount, please consider donating to support this cause that means so much to me and my family. Together we can make a difference!
