Story
For my 40th spin around the sun I've decided to run not one but two (EDIT: make that three) marathons to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK. I will be running Marathon Eryri (described as Britains hardest Marathon!) in October 2025 before returning to Brighton Marathon (the first marathon I ever ran in 2013) in April 2026. If I go completely bonkers by the end of the summer I may even squeeze in a couple more. EDIT: I've added Portsmouth Coastal Marathon on December 21st too!
It's been over 8 years and 2 kids since I last ran 26.2 miles in one go so it's time to see if I can re-habilitate my creaking joints and dad bod.
ARUK is a fantastic cause pioneering critical research into dementia. I last ran for ARUK at London 2017 after my mother in law (and since grandma to my two boys Miles and Elliott) Sue was diagnosed with early onset dementia aged just 58 in 2013.
Despite being in full time care for the whole span of Miles' life, he absolutely adored visiting and talking to Grandma Sue until sadly she passed away in 2023.
Alzheimer's is a cruel disease that robs entire families of precious time and memories, and every pound donated will go toward funding work that is searching for a cure.
I am self funding my marathon entries so please give generously to this important cause, every donation will be very gratefully received.
If you want to keep up with my training progress, I will be posting regular updates on Strava: https://www.strava.com/athletes/99075464
