Ultra Tour of Arran (97km) · 5 April 2025

Sarcoidosis is a rare disease and has poor information, support and little research for finding a cure. We work to change that. Our 4 goals; information, support, awareness and research. We receive no government money and are reliant on your generosity. Every donation makes a huge difference.

Story

In 2022, I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, a rare inflammatory disease that can affect any organ. Learning of its potential for serious lung complications, I resolved to strengthen mine.

In 2024, I took on the Rat Race Ultra Tour of Arran: a gruelling 97km ultramarathon with 2,800m of elevation around the Isle of Arran. The chronic fatigue and poor sleep caused by sarcoidosis made it a monumental personal challenge. Despite my best efforts, I reached 79km, falling short of my goal.

Disappointed, but undeterred, I'm returning to Arran this April for a second attempt.

About Sarcoidosis UK

Sarcoidosis is a rare disease with limited information, support, and research towards a cure. SarcoidosisUK aims to address these gaps. Our four key objectives are: providing information, offering support, raising awareness, and funding research.

We rely entirely on donations to achieve these goals. As a small charity, every contribution, regardless of size, significantly impacts our ability to help those affected by sarcoidosis. Thank you for your generosity.
