Story
I'm running in support of Myeloma UK as my Mam is currently battling this condition and has done so amazingly for the last 18 years.
She was diagnosed in 2007 at 42 when searching for an unrelated condition, we're all extremely greatful as it may not have been as treatable if found later. This is extremely young to get the condition and was not symptomatic for a number of years. This all changed in 2019 when my Mam went through a Stem Cell transplant as the condition had progressed. Despite the hardship faced, my mam has been extremely brave and fortunately went into remission.
My Mam is now going through an 18 month bout of chemo which is helping manage the condition but is still very hard going for my parents (Although she is pleased to have kept her hair this time round).
I'm doing the great north run this year to raise money and awareness for the condition, for my Mam, and for people whose lives have been severely impacted by this condition. Any donations you can give are greatly appreciated, thank you! 👍
