Story
Billy & G will be running the Cheltenham Half Marathon in September to support the Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity - our choice of funds will be going to the Oncology Department
🩵 This is for you! 🩵
Both of us have needed Cheltenham and Gloucester hospitals for several situations and circumstances and we didn’t realise the work that this incredible charity does on a daily basis and what a difference it makes. Many of us don’t realise just how much the charity does for us all.
We would like to raise as much money as possible for Cheltenham Oncology Department for all their support and constant care. We would love to give back to them as the cancer and palliative care teams have been there for so many and so recently.
We are running in memory our beautiful butterfly in the sky Auntie Rue, our Bampy’s request to ‘keep running’ and for our incredible, inspirational and dear friend Nick who all sadly wont be there to see us cross that finish line in person but all would’ve wanted us to push ourselves in our ‘next race’ and I know who all would've been cheering us on, ‘chanting army songs’ and pushing us forward.
We love and miss you so so much.
Thank you to the oncology teams who supported our loved ones through their battles and who also found ways to support our family & friends 🩵
Thank you for supporting us.

Here are just some of the ways the charity helps:
- Raised money for Portable Ultra sound scanners for faster diagnosis
- Offer Hydration stations providing nutritional information and to support to patients undergoing treatment
- Funded cancer care through the focus support centre, providing research into innovative treatment options, state of the art medical care, continuing support to local cancer patients and loved ones.
- Provide a Focus support centre offering help and advice to loved ones
- Installed Focus visual sky ceilings offer distractions whilst undergoing treatments
- Radiotherapy positioning technology - can target within millimetres to get the greatest possible accuracy
- With the donations the charity has been able to purchase CT scanners to provide better diagnosis with better imaging and this improves waiting times for people with cancer, and seriously ill children when every second counts - it offers two scans in one appointment which can also help children who struggle to stay still
- Have Focus arm warmers and Vein finders to prevent further discomfort to patients undergoing treatment in each hospital
- Provide Comfort packs and bereavement property bags for patients and their families providing compassionate and dignified care in their dying hours making time more bearable
- 30 Jaundice meters to the midwife teams helping diagnose jaundice levels earliest opportunity helping treat babies faster
- Transformed outdoor spaces and created a beautiful baby loss remembrance garden
- Commissioned floor to ceiling artworks in the Gloucester A&E departments to help those in experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Commissioned Murals in the day room on Ryworth ward (Bampy & our son Albee love/d looking at these) and provided a Sara steady - seating to standing moving from bed to chair
- Purchased iPads to enable virtual visiting
- Provided Boost bags and boxes for staff, coffee machines, fold out beds…and more!
The list truly is endless which is why we feel so strongly about raising as much money as possible so the charity can continue making such a difference for us all.

“Every donation helps your local hospitals do more to care for you, everyone you love and our passionate NHS staff. It helps to fund projects that make a positive change for as many as possible. From state-of-the-art equipment, transforming the hospital environment, supporting our incredible staff to specialist care; your support can help touch the lives of nearly every person in Gloucestershire.
None of our work would be possible without you, our supporters, and for that - thank you!”
