Mindstep was founded in memory of Max Davies who died by suicide in 2018. The charity funds mental health and suicide prevention research, awareness and support. We support vital research at the University of Glasgow and deliver Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).

Story

On April 5th, the Convey Team will take to the skies with an incredible skydive to raise funds for the Mindstep Foundation. This charity is dedicated to funding mental health research, raising awareness, and supporting those impacted by suicide. Through this event, we aim to help fund the vital work being done to understand the causes of suicide, raise awareness about the warning signs, and offer support to those in need. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to breaking the stigma around mental health and preventing further loss.

30 for Max

In December 2025, Max Davies would have turned 30 years old. Tragically, Max lost his life to suicide at just 22 year of age. In his memory, the Mindstep and Convey Law team and fellow supporters are committed to raising £30,000 for the Mindstep Foundation, supporting vital but underfunded research at the University of Glasgow to better understand and prevent suicide.

This year, the team will undertake some incredible challenges to raise funds and awareness, standing together to make a real difference. From skydiving to relay runs and Max’s Pilgrimage, we are pushing our limits to prevent suicide, help save lives and ensure that no family endures the heartbreak of losing a loved one to suicide.

• In March, the team will be participating the Mindstep Relay and pledging an hour of their time to complete an activity of their choice and handing the virtual baton to the next participant.

• In April, a team of fear free volunteers will be jumping 10,000 feet in a Skydive for Mindstep.

• In June, Lloyd Davies, father of Max, will be undertaking a cycling pilgrimage from Monmouth (our home) to Canterbury (where Max went to university).

In November, we will rally to raise as much as possible to ensure we reach and exceed our goal and to support Professor Rory O’Connor’s pioneering work at the Suicidal Behaviour Research Laboratory (SBRL) at Glasgow University. This research is vital, and it requires funding.

Join us in honouring Max’s memory by donating, sharing, and supporting our journey. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to a world where no one suffers in silence.

👉 Donate today and be part of something truly life-changing.

The Mindstep Foundation has been established in memory of Max Davies, who tragically died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 22. Mindstep funds postgraduate research at the University of Glasgow into the causes of suicide and interventions for those at risk.

By funding research into the causes of suicide, and working to raise awareness of both the warning signs and consequences of mental health conditions going untreated, the Mindstep Foundation aims to break the stigma attached to admitting, confronting and dealing with mental health issues.
