Story
Sadly as many of you know we lost our mum, Melanie Hughes to suicide. Mum was a one in a million and brought laughter and light into the lives of anyone that ever met her.
As a much loved and well known paramedic in the Welsh ambulance service, she devoted her life to helping others. Mum served in the Welsh ambulance service for over 20 years (receiving her long service medal last year). Within this time the people she met and colleagues she worked with became her family in green.
Mum was incredibly proud of her role in the ambulance service so I find it very fitting that in mums memory we are taking part in the Brighton Marathon on the 7th of April raising money for ‘The Ambulance Service Charity’ a charity that has helped us out during this incredibly difficult time. Mum always wanted to run a marathon but with work and injuries she never got around to it. So now its up to us!
Myself and my partner Bex will be taking part in the Brighton marathon - it is both our first full marathon!
My sister Lilly will be taking part in the Bath Half Marathon (17th March) & Brighton (7th April) and Cardiff Half Marathon (6th October)
Emily (youngest sister) will also be taking part in the Brighton 10k with her father Graeme.
We are looking forward to taking part in these challenges and hope to do you proud mum.
