I am attempting to run for the second year running after injury (specifically patellafemoral pain syndrome in the knee!) curtailed my efforts last year. A huge thank you to those that donated last year - I raised £1,575 towards my target of at least £2,000 which carries forward to this year.

I decided to run and fundraise for Versus Arthritis as it is fantastic charity that supports a huge number of people, and their families, to live with a condition that affects ~10 million in the UK alone.

The charity and this condition has special meaning to me as a number of women close to me in my life have different types of arthritis (rheumatoid, osteo and psoriatic) which they have battled against for varying durations of time.

They impress me everyday with their fortitude, bravery and the fight they show to continue living an active lifestyle, which involves regular pain management, medication and has also required surgery. Whilst this may not always be apparent to those externally, it is to their enormous credit that they are able to continue as seemingly unencumbered as they do, which is something I appreciate even more after personally suffering various injuries over the last ~2 years.

Versus Arthritis are comprised of the healthcare professionals, volunteers, researchers and friends that strive to continue developing treatments, campaigning for it to be prioritised, and support those with the condition.

I would be enormously grateful for any support you are able to provide to such a fantastic cause. Here's hoping I manage to keep the injuries at bay for long enough to get to the finish line this time!
