Story
Mabel (age 9) & I are completing the Snowdon sunrise challenge to raise vital funds and shine a light on the families living with rare diseases.
Behind every rare disease diagnosis is a family facing uncertainty, challenges and often a long lonely journey to find the right support.
We’re climbing Snowdon, in the dark (3am start time), to stand alongside these families and help make that journey a little less lonely.
Mabel and I will be joined by some amazing friends. This charity was established by Anna-Mai, an incredible friend I met through NCT. We had our first babies together, Mabel and Sammy, who are both taking on this challenge with us (age 9). When our second babies were born, their daughter was not hitting the 'expected' milestones. Endless appointments led to no clear diagnosis, but with strength, determination and no plan to ever give up, they got a diagnosis, MORC2, a rare genetic condition.
We have watched as they have navigated this scary unknown journey, and now it is our turn to try and give something back.
Anna-Mai and eight friends will be taking on the 3 peak challenge (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) on 26 September. Mabel, Sammy & I will be joining them for the final climb, Snowdon at 3am on 27 September.
Every step, every sore muscle and every donation will help provide hope, support and a brighter future for families affected by rare disease
Please support our challenge and help us make every step count. ❤️
