The 9th annual Scores for Schools golf day will take place on 4th October 2024 at West Essex Golf Club. Over the last eight years - and despite some terrible amateur golf in wind, rain and occasional sunshine - we've raised funds to support more than 135 children in rural Sri Lanka to benefit from Hela Sarana's education bursary.

Sri Lanka's economy continues to experience significant challenges; disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable communities; invariably in rural districts. The World Food Programme states that 31% of under 5s are malnourished and 26% of the population live below the UN-defined poverty line.

Charities like Hela Sarana are attempting to address these problems. Run by volunteers in the UK and Sri Lanka, the charity delivers a range of effective projects which we have seen first hand, including medical aid and an education programme which has now supported more than 600 children.
