Story
Hi,
My name is Alex and I have challenged myself to run the Manchester Marathon in 2026 after previously being strictly a 5km runner.
In late 2025, as training was ramping up, my Father was diagnosed and treated for an early stage prostate cancer. I’m asking you to help me raise some funds for the Ball Tampering Allowed Trust, who promote testicular checks for men aged 15-35 and regular prostate checks, the leading cause of male cancer deaths in the UK.
They raise awareness, support those affected by cancer, and channel donations to related charities and worthwhile causes.
I’ve met a great group of people in my local area through running and it’s certainly contributed to my mental wellbeing and my fitness. As a father now myself I feel fortunate to be healthy and able to take on the challenge of 26.2 miles. Winter training for a first marathon has been really difficult but it’s all put into perspective when someone you care about is unwell.
I’m hoping that my training will allow me to run sub four-hours, and that raising money for a great cause will be extra motivation.
Thank you for reading and any support you can provide.
Alex
