Raising Funds for Young Lives vs Cancer

Hi, I’m Alex Moore, a 52 year old homeless guy – and I’m about to cycle about 600 miles solo from Portsmouth, UK to Geneva, Switzerland.

Why? Because every mile I ride is for children and young people facing cancer – young fighters whose courage puts my own struggles into perspective and inspires me.

I may not have a home right now, but I have a bike, a mission, determination, and a heart full of purpose. And that’s enough. I'm no Yellow Jersey winner but lucky enough to be in pretty good shape.

💜 The Cause:

Young Lives vs Cancer is an amazing charity that supports children and young people through the hardest time of their lives. When cancer turns their world upside down, Young Lives vs Cancer is there – offering practical, emotional, and lots of other support when it's needed most.

Their work has touched me deeply. Despite everything I’ve faced in my own life, it’s the bravery of these young people and their loved ones that keeps me moving. If they can endure what they do every day, then I can ride for them.

🛣️ The Challenge:

Route: Portsmouth to Geneva

Distance: Approximately 600 miles

Rider: Just me – solo, unsupported, on the road

Living rough: Camping and relying on the kindness of strangers, and my wits

Goal: Raise over £1000 to help support young people with cancer

✨ Why I’m Doing This:

I’ve lost a lot in my life, but this journey is about giving back. It’s about showing that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, you can choose to make a difference.

I’m riding for hope, for strength. For every young person who never asked for cancer but fights it anyway.
