Ride of their Lives 2025

MacMillan Ride of their Lives 2025 at York Racecourse · 14 June 2025
The Macmillan Charity Raceday is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country, raising £10.5 million in its 53 year history for people living with cancer.
Held every June, the highlight of the day is the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives race that sees 12 amateur jockeys ride down the famous Knavesmire course. Each year 25,000 spectators enjoy an incredible day with us to cheer these brave riders on as they take on the challenge of their lifetime.
I’m riding in this race in memory of two friends that have lost their lives to cancer in the past couple of years- Meriel Bertie and Ian Gould. Both came into my life through the equestrian world and became good, lifelong friends. I feel this race would be something they would have been so excited to be a part of on the day, making it even more special.
I was treated for cancer at St James hospital in Leeds as a child in the 90’s and I remember back then being aware of Macmillan. I experienced first hand the horror cancer brings, so I’m proud to support MacMillan as it aims to help people navigate through that journey. Sadly it’s something too many of us know. So I hope you can offer any help, even just a small amount, to boost my total for such a good cause 💚
