Story
Thank you for visiting the page.
This year I am running my first TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025.
The wonderful nerds at Cancer Research UK are doing exceptional work and are relentless in their dedication to fund scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner and I am so pleased to be running for them.
This past year we, as a family, have seen first hand the impact cancer has on people and their loved ones. Within a week of each other, my mum and my mother-in law were both diagnosed along with my auntie a few months prior. They have been incredible throughout, and thanks to early detection, advances in treatment and support from amazing health care teams their treatment has been exceptional and they are doing well.
But of course, sadly so many of us still lose our most loved, brilliant people and I am very much doing it on the day for one of my absolute favourites.
What will really get me round on the day is knowing the minor aches and pains I will experience is nothing compared to the uncertainty that a cancer diagnosis brings and the physical effects of it’s treatment. It’s also thinking about those supporting people with cancer, who also show amazing strength by cheerleading, making dinners, supporting hospital visits and being bloody great. (shout out to both Dads here!).
Doing something is better than doing nothing, and if me slathering anti-chafe cream around my groin and wanging on about running 26 miles is it, then so be it. I know times are tight but if you are able to pop whatever you may be able to spare into the pot, I will be extremely grateful.
Cheers
