Alex's London Marathon for Royal Trinity Hospice

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Provided I can make it through the next twenty-something weeks without injuring myself (something that is no certainty if you know how clumsy I can be), on 27 April 2025 I’ll be running the London Marathon for Royal Trinity Hospice.
For those of you who don’t know about Royal Trinity Hospice, they provide hospice care and support to terminally ill patients and their families across London. Trinity Hospice’s mantra is that hospice care is as much about living as it is about dying and the Trinity Hospice team work tirelessly to give patients the time and support they need to make informed decisions about how they die and to provide emotional and practical support to families going through these most difficult of times.
Aside from being an incredibly worthy cause in their own right, Royal Trinity Hospice occupies an important place in mine and my family’s hearts. As some of you will know, having been diagnosed only a year previously with secondary breast cancer, in March 2022 my mother died after a short battle with a brain tumour. During the last few weeks of her life, Royal Trinity Hospice’s team of wonderfully friendly and kind nurses provided seamless, round-the-clock care. The Trinity Hospice team not only ensured my mother was comfortable, but took care of all the menial tasks associated with such a process - tasks that would otherwise have occupied much of our days. The work of Trinity Hospice allowed us to spend precious final moments with our mother and it is something for which we are all incredibly grateful. Most importantly, Royal Trinity Hospice allowed my mother to die with dignity at home surrounded by her family. Without the support of Trinity Hospice, this simply would not have been possible and the last few weeks of her life would have been very different.
So, if you have made it this far and now that I have (hopefully) provided some colour to the vitally important work carried out by Royal Trinity Hospice each day and explained why they are such an important charity to me and my family, all that is left is to ask you, please, to dig deep and support this wonderful cause. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and really would mean a huge amount to me and my family.
Thank you so much.
