Story

Hello,

I'm running the Manchester marathon on 14 April, and hoping to raise a few quid along the way.

Here's the sob story to butter you up:

2017-2020: chronic tendonitis in both knees, every treatment under the sun including surgery. Eventually told to hang up my trainers and to stop any running for good to avoid the pain.

2021: diagnosed with glioblastoma - the world's deadliest tumour - and given a life expectancy of 14 months. 6x weeks of radio. 14x months of chemo.

Read more about my diagnosis here: https://www.thesun.co.uk/health/19242878/brain-cancer-tessa-jowell-foundation/

Here's the nice bit:

Roll on 2024 and I'm still alive and kicking (/hobbling), and hoping to run my first marathon before I'm too old and decrepid.

I'm fundraising for the Tessa Jowell Foundation, a charity that exists to raise money to improve research and treatment for NHS brain cancer patients like me. I don't have a fundraising target but every little helps and I know TJF will really value anything I can raise.

Thank you! x
