Hi, I’m Alex Shanks, and this September I’m taking on a big challenge—cycling from Land’s End to John O'Groats

My route is over 1000 miles, top to bottom, across the UK. And while I’m looking forward to the physical challenge, this journey means much more than just miles on a bike.

I’m doing this in support of a colleague and friend, Jane Clark, at Cottages.com who’s currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Her strength throughout this journey has been nothing short of inspiring. She’s a big supporter of the charity AMEND, which does incredible work helping people with rare endocrine and genetic conditions—including certain types of cancer.

So as I cycle across the country, I’ll be fundraising for AMEND in her honour—and every donation, no matter the size, will go toward supporting their vital services.

Along the way, I’ll also be staying in some beautiful Cottages.com properties, capturing the stories, scenery and spirit of the places I pass through. It’s a chance to showcase the landscapes we love and the incredible people who make up this community.
