Story
I am going to jump out of a plane from 12,000ft (2 miles), freefall for around 40 seconds (1 mile), then hopefully the parachute will open and I will glide safely towards earth. Why? Because I need your money!!
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a severe and devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is usually diagnosed in early childhood and mainly affects boys.
Although medical advancement is positive there is still no cure and Duchenne remains the largest fatal genetic disorder in children worldwide.
Children born with DMD cannot produce the protein dystrophin, which helps muscles to repair. Without it, muscles cannot heal properly and so they get weaker over time and eventually children will lose mobility. Eventually it will affect the whole body, including the heart and lungs. In the UK, there are around 2,500 people affected and around 300,000 worldwide.
Duchenne UK is a leading charity dedicated to funding research and accelerating the development of treatments for DMD. Duchenne UK was started by families affected by the disease, and has one clear aim – to end Duchenne.
DMD is relentless, but so are we! Your donations will help us to find new treatments to slow down or even stop DMD it in its tracks.
With your help, we will continue to campaign to make sure these treatments get to patients who need them as quickly as possible. Your donations are also going towards our work to make sure that everyone living with DMD gets the best care possible.
Rabobank London are proud to pledge unwavering support to Duchenne UK. We understand the urgency of the cause and are committed to making a difference in the lives of those affected by this debilitating condition. Rabobank will match fund all donations to this cause - doubling the impact of your contribution.
SO PLEASE DONATE!
Every contribution, large or small, makes a significant impact. Join us in supporting Duchenne UK by making a donation today.
