Story
I’m running the London Marathon 2026 for Retina UK, a charity who are currently celebrating 50 years of funding vital research and providing support for people affected by inherited sight loss.
This cause is very personal to me. My partner and members of our family live with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a progressive eye disease. Their courage and resilience is my biggest inspiration, and I am running to honour that spirt.
Retina UK has already funded pioneering research, including early gene therapy trials and projects aiming to slow or stop sight loss. They also provide life changing support and information for thousands of people and their families. Watching someone you love face a progressive condition like RP can be it's own challenge; you feel a sense of helplessness and a desire to fix something you can’t. There is still no cure, and more funding is urgently needed to push research forward and ensure no one faces sight loss alone.
I am running for my partner & family, for everyone living with inherited progressive sight loss, and for the families who stand beside them. I want to contribute to a less frightening and more hopeful future. Every donation brings us closer to this, where inherited sight loss is treatable. One small step towards a more hopeful future is worth running a few thousand (or more). Thank you so much for your support!
