On Sunday the 8th March I shall be running at the Wickersley 10k event supporting The 50k Power Play campaign for our Powerchair Football team, supported by the Rotherham United Community Trust.

Powerchair Football is the only active team sport that’s fully inclusive for wheelchair users and people with severe mobility impairments. It’s quick, skilful and seriously competitive, and now, thanks to RUCT, it’s here in Rotherham..

Our son, Rowan, plays for this team, and it has been incredible to see how much he has grown in confidence as a powerchair user—something he now relies on every day due to his Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Since he stopped walking independently last year, Powerchair Football has given him a new focus, new friends, and the joy of being part of a team. Most importantly, it’s an activity that celebrates what he can do!
