Story
I'm walking 14 miles in this year's Kiltwalk!
I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a genetic condition I was born with. There are 13 types of EDS, and I have the most common type, hypermobile EDS (hEDS).
EDS impacts every part of my life, causing challenges like joint subluxations (partial dislocations) and chronic pain, which affect how I approach physical activities like this charity walk. I also have other conditions secondary to EDS, which means I developed them as a result of the strain EDS puts on my body. I've had symptoms of these other conditions since I was just five years old.
By supporting the Ehlers-Danlos Society, you’ll help fund critical research, raise awareness, and improve resources for people living with all forms of EDS worldwide.
I've been unwell these past few years, to the point I could barely walk the length of myself. It feels only right to celebrate feeling better by walking a long way!
