Story
In May 2027, I'll be taking on what is quite possibly the biggest physical challenge I've ever attempted, the 100km Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge.
I've wanted to take on a fundraising challenge for years, but most of the events you hear about are marathons, and I am definitely not a runner. A 100km trek across one of the UK's toughest coastal routes feels slightly mad, but sometimes the challenges that scare us the most are the ones worth doing.
I'm taking on this challenge for a cause that is deeply personal to me.
In 2023, I was diagnosed with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), an eating disorder that I’ve been living with since childhood. For years, I struggled with food without understanding why, people would always say that I’m just a fussy eater and I would grow out of it.
Since receiving my diagnosis, I've made it my mission to share my story and raise awareness of ARFID and other lesser-known eating disorders. The more we talk about them, the more people can recognise the signs, seek help, and understand that eating disorders can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, background, or appearance.
If you wanted to find out more about my story you can read my blog:
That's why I'm fundraising for Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity.
Right now, at least 1.25 million people in the UK are living with an eating disorder, alongside millions of family members, friends, and loved ones who are affected too. Beat provides vital support, expert advice, education, and campaigning to ensure that people get the help they need and deserve.
Recovery is possible, but it starts with better awareness, understanding, and access to support.
So, over 100km of hills, cliffs, blisters, and probably a lot of questioning my life choices, I'll be raising money to help Beat continue their incredible work.
If you're able to donate, no matter how big or small, I'd be hugely grateful. Every contribution will help support people affected by eating disorders and bring us closer to a future where nobody has to face them alone.
Thank you for your support. 💜
