The Big Half 2023 · 3 September 2023 ·

We use the power of sport to enhance the lives of disabled people. Disabled people are twice as likely to be inactive as non-disabled people. Through our inclusive clubs, coaching sessions in schools and expert-led training, we break down barriers to sport for 5,000 disabled people each year.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 3rd September, I am running the Big Half Marathon for Disability Sports Coach because I want to help the charity give more sports and coaching opportunities to people across London.

The charity uses the power of sport to enhance the lives of disabled people.

I joined the charity’s Club Southwark at the age of 16 to play sport.

I enjoyed all sports while at the club and soon took on the role of volunteer, supporting disabled club members to participate in activities.

Members play a variety of sports including basketball, boccia, tennis and football.

I’m very happy to now be a paid coach. It shows my confidence in my abilities and that I can do a great job.

I like delivering sports sessions and adapting sport so that everyone can play. It’s good to give members tactics and techniques to improve their performance too.

I am passionate about disability inclusion in sport. Disabled people need to be able to play sports, not just non-disabled people.

They need to practise sport with friends just like anyone else – when you’re playing sport you never feel alone.

Please donate to help us reach more people.
