Story
So I signed up for the bike ride. That was some weeks ago. I've been putting in the miles to get fit and ready for the big ride out. We are less bang on 2 weeks pre departure form Canterbury. I have been slightly disorganised around getting a few quid into the main event. Halton Haven Hospice. They are excellent guys doing some outstanding end of life work. I didn't realise before I signed up how much they have to work to make the place just stay open let alone become better tomorrow. We all know that every individual is under pressure to decide where their charitable donations go. I want to give my best shot to support Halton Haven.
Three reasons: Reason one: I love a challenge and in my book this is a challenge. Second: whilst I bang on about fitness and making sure that you should keep fit no matter what, I have been politely reminded that there is a bit of belly growth going on. It's about time I changed that, rather than leaving it for tomorrow. And three: It would be nice to support a fab cause that needs a bit of extra finance.
I started this bike journey back in November. I have been lucky enough to have been lent a bike from an Evertonian (don't let that stop you supporting me) and I am starting to crank up the number and getting used to to the saddle sore. We have only a have two weeks before the start line so the alarm now goes on a regular basis at 05.30 and I am out there pushing the pedals. I am giving it a go and, with a few quid from you, I hope that I can deliver a nice result for Halton Haven.
Halton Haven Hospice provides specialist care, completely free of charge, to the people of Halton and surrounding areas who are living with end of life or life-limiting conditions.
By taking on this incredible challenge, cycling four countries in 4 days, riders will be making a huge difference, supporting end of life care in their local community.
