Story
I'm running an (almost) marathon around Liverpool, for The Brain Charity, a leading Liverpool neurological support charity!
The Brain Charity helps people affected by all forms of neurological conditions to lead longer, healthier, happier lives.
To raise money for the good cause, I'll be running an (almost) marathon around Liverpool football grounds.
The route is as follows:
Tranmere
Cammel Laird
Bramley Moore Dock (Everton)
Liverpool
Lower Breck
Everton Women
Bootle
Litherland
Marine
AFC Liverpool
There are more than 600 conditions affecting the brain, spine and nervous system. We are the only charity in the UK to support every single one.
Each year, The Brain Charity provides practical help, emotional support, and social activities to thousands of people from all over the UK and their family, friends, and carers.
They champion neurodiversity and fight for an inclusive and just society, free of stigma, hardship and isolation.
All donations are greatly appreciated, I'm not going to stop doing these charity runs any time soon, and I'm forever grateful for your support.
I'm aiming to fundraise £450. Here is what some of that money could go towards:
Information and Advice Service/Practical Help
£40 could provide 2 hours of welfare benefit support for someone taking their appeal to tribunal, like Christine.
£281 could a client’s full journey receiving wrap-around support from our Information and Advice team.
Counselling Service/Emotional Support
£26 could pay for a counselling session for a carer trying to balance their caring responsibilities.
£157 could provide a six-week course of counselling for someone struggling with their mental health, like Louis.
Social Activities
£4 gives someone who has been recently diagnosed the chance to talk to others in their situation at one of our monthly coffee mornings.
£8 could give someone feeling socially isolated the opportunity to join a gardening session with our friendly volunteers.
Neuro Gym
£4 gives someone the opportunity to join a Tai Chi session, to help regain balance and strength after a stroke.
£40 could give someone access to our Neuro Gym for a month.
Brain Changer
£372 could allow a child with a neurological condition, like Faith, to take part in a full term of Brain Changer Arts Sessions.
£604 could fund a Brain Changer Arts Session workshop so 13 children can receive physiotherapy through dance with their peers.
Employability/Confidence Coaching
£250 could fund a day of coaching sessions, helping a group of ten people to develop their confidence.
Carers Advocacy
£50 could pay for an hour of support from our Carer’s Advocacy team, so they can get a parent/carer the help they need.
Thank you again for your support!
