Story
As most of you know, I am dyslexic (a word which is annoyingly hard to spell). Being dyslexic is a challenge, but have managed to achieve what I have through the support I received from others.
I went to university to study arts subjects (history, architectural history and law), when others would have said essay writing would be too difficult for me. I have become a lawyer, even though that path is hard for people like me.
I was lucky enough to have a spelling tutor (Mrs Rose) who gave me the faith that I should not write myself off, should do the things I wanted to do (even if it was difficult) and (most importantly) let me know that I should always use the words I wanted (not be limited to the words I can spell).
So on the 12 October, I am running the Royal Parks Half marathon to raise funds for Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity.
This wonderful charity gives hope to parents and children who come to the charity feeling hopeless, and help to boost the self esteem and confidence of someone who has felt alone and misunderstood.
Hopefully, another little boy (or girl) will meet someone just like Mrs Rose, who will get them the help they need to do the things they want to do.
