Alright troops, Diesel the Dug here — professional good boy, snack inspector, and long distance legend. In case ye missed it, in 2024/25 I completed the Virtual Land’s End to John o’ Groats. Aye. The whole country. Bottom tae top . I basically walked ma hooman, Alex, into the ground. Olympic level stuff.

But dae I retire? Dae I settle doon on ma comfy bed and demand belly rubs for the rest of ma days? Naw. Ah’m a Scottish dug. We dinnae quit.

So this May, me and Alex are takin’ on 96 miles — the full distance of the West Highland Way. Except I’m daein’ the virtual version, which is better because it has ma favourite things: sniffs, mud, suspicious sticks, and nae tourists in matching waterproofs.

We’re daein’ it for the brilliant My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, and we kick aff on Friday 1st May. Alex says all ma usual walkies count… but then he mentioned “extra walkies” and “longer walkies,” which sounds like he’s planning tae turn me into some kind of Highland marathon machine. I’ve agreed — but only if the snack budget is increased. Substantially.

By the end of May, I’ll have conquered the West Highland Way, secured ma status as a national treasure, and probably demanded to be carried the last few metres like the majestic wee prince I am.
