Story
This cause is important as it helps saves lives of people like Grace and help prevent people just like her from catching the illness - here is her story.
Hello my name is Grace Ciara Tucker I have just celebrated my 21 st birthday, and I am lucky to be here. I had bacterial meningitis at 3 years old. My first memory is being taken into hospital, I was too young to understand what was happening but the terror I felt has stayed with me to this day. I didn't know what was going to happen. I've been told that I had to be blue lighted by ambulance to The Evelina Children's Hospital in London which is part of Guy's and St.Thomas's as the doctors at the local hospital were unable to stabilise me. I was on life support in intensive care for 4 days, every organ was being attacked. Once they knew I| would survive, it was a waiting game to see if any long term damage was done, I was a year under the care of the hospital as an outpatient before being discharged, in the end I was very lucky and survived with only a few scars. Some people aren't so lucky. Meningitis can affect anybody at any age, 1 in 6 people die and 1 in 5 are left with a lifelong disability or complications.
Anything you can donate to help fight this awful disease is much appreciated
