Given that we have been best friends for 35 years & majority of our time is spent on the golf course together- it felt right to swap the golf clubs and pick up the running trainers to run the London Marathon together in 2026 for Whizz Kidz.

This will be Joe’s first marathon and Alex’s third, so one of us is full of blind optimism while the other knows exactly how painful this is going to be.

We’re bracing ourselves for a few cold months of training and plenty of fundraising, and we hope to see lots of you cheering us on on the day. We’ll be fundraising together, as we’re lucky enough to share many of the same close friends and family.

Our close friend Chris will also be running on the day for Whizz Kidz, albeit a good hour or so in front of us.

Whizz Kidz is an amazing charity that supports young wheelchair users to live life without limits. Every donation will help them continue their brilliant work — and help motivate us through the long runs when we’re wondering why we didn’t just stick to golf.
