Story
This September myself, two of my sisters and my brother will be running the Great North Run for a cause that has become very personal to our family.
Earlier this year, our Mum/Stepmum Jill was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at 52.
For more than 20 years, she dedicated her life to teaching, helping and inspiring hundreds of children. Many people in our town will remember her as the teacher who encouraged them, believed in them and helped shape their early years. Now, as Alzheimer’s gradually takes those memories away from her, we want to do something in return.
We’re running to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and support, in the hope that one day other families won’t have to watch someone they love go through this devastating disease.
Training for a half marathon is challenging, but it’s nothing compared with the challenges faced every day by people living with Alzheimer’s and those who care for them.
If you’re able to support us, no matter how big or small the donation, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps fund vital research, improve care and bring hope to families like ours.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. It means more than you know.
