Alex's fundraiser for Phoenix Enterprises

Scafell Pike trek · 15 June 2024
This is the highest mountain in England, and having climbed Ben Nevis and Snowdon for Phoenix Enterprises, it seemed rude not to complete the set!
Phoenix is a brilliant charity, making a real difference to people in Swindon. Their funding is always on a tightrope so events like this make all the difference.
Founded in 2002, Phoenix Enterprises is both a charity and a social enterprise. Each year they provide a vital safety net for over 100 vulnerable adults in Swindon with mental health issues, learning difficulties and physical disabilities. Their challenges range from Autism, Asperger’s and Downs Syndrome to depression and anxiety. Phoenix enriches lives by building employability skills. They provide all their people with holistic day-to-day support in a structured production environment. This improves confidence, morale, life and employability skills, mental and physical health.
Phoenix ensure that everyone is given the opportunity to realise their full potential, which for many means finding paid employment, coming off benefits for the first time and living independently. They focus on what each person CAN DO, not what their disability means they can’t do.
We asked for sponsorship in 2021 for Snowdon and last year for Ben Nevis so I hope that this year despite the election and the Euros about to start, you will be able to find the time to support the gang again. We are 22 this time, setting off on a wet and windy trek, despite it being summer!
