Story

Your fundraising will help Phoenix Enterprises support Swindon adults with mental health issues and learning disabilities into paid employment. These are our service users and they do packaging and hand assembly jobs for local businesses, gaining work experience and confidence. For those with more profound challenges, we provide a place to go each day, creating a sense of self-worth and being part of a caring and supportive community.

Here is an example of the work Phoenix undertake as told by George's mum:

George was only 3 years old when he was diagnosed with autism. He was later diagnosed with autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.

Even though he had a EHCP I still had to fight to get him everything. He didn't mix with other children, couldn't make eye contact and a change of routine was a nightmare.

George is now 26 years of age and he's been working at Phoenix Enterprises for about six years. He enjoys his work. He knows what he's doing and he also has friends from school and college that work there. He's happy there and I am comfortable leaving him at Phoenix. Karen is great with him and even though he can become angry, she always manages to calm him down.

The staff are great. They are so understanding and so patient with him and if I have any queries or paperwork they are there for me as well – they're like a lifeline really.

I don't know what I would do without them.
