Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
15th December 2025, my dad sadly passed away due to a bleed on the brain. We did not have the closest relationship but nevertheless he was my dad and we still shared some beautiful memories. He was a complicated man (and a stubborn one 😆) who impacted so many lives throughout his time, and he will be dearly missed by many.
I also lost my mother when I was 13 to bowel cancer, so I am doing the South Downs 100 mile walk in the summer to honour her life (check out my page). They are both finally reunited and at peace. Loosing both parents so young has completely changed me as a person and I am doing both of these challenges to try and make someone else’s experience that bit better and to raise awareness on such awful issues/diseases.
My dad unfortunately struggled with a smoking addiction, leading to an increasing risk of a stroke. He has had 3 severe strokes throughout his life and was warned to stop drinking and smoking before it caused more damage. Unfortunately, addiction isn’t that easy and it can take over your life.
Having an addiction to smoking and alcohol is a real struggle and an ongoing issue for many families. It tears them apart and destroys lives. Like it did for my dad. So I am doing a sober 6 months starting in January (after funeral) to honour him and his life. All money will go to the “Change, Grow, Live” charity.
This charity provides free support and advice to those dealing with addiction and also to the families or friends witnessing it. Charities like this are what can save someone’s life and we need more of it. So please donate and help make a difference.
