Alex's London Marathon fundraiser for British Heart Foundation

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm running the London Marathon in April 2024, raising money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
I ran my first marathon for the BHF back in 2005, just a few short months after my Dad died suddenly at the age of 56. He was playing tennis one summer Tuesday evening with friends, as he always did, when without warning, he collapsed and died. We'd already lost my sister in 1987 following an unsuccessful operation to fix a hole in her heart. She was just 8 years old.
2024 will be 20 years since we said goodbye to Dad and it seems a fitting time to run again for him and for my sister, whilst raising funds for an amazing cause - as important today as it was 20 years ago. Sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives from heart and circulatory disease. The BHF has helped halve that number and with our support can continue to create new treatments and discover new cures.
I'm a bit creakier than I was when I last ran London and possibly a little more time poor, but it's a challenge I'm determined to succeed in, for my family and for all those out there who find themselves touched in some way by the impact of heart and circulatory disease and in need of support of the great work undertaken by the British Heart Foundation. If the money I raise can help just one family avoid the heartache we've experienced then every step taken, every training run completed and every muscle ache will be 100% worth it. Every pound helps so please do give what you can to help me reach my target.
Thank you SO much.
