Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are a group of friends who will be climbing Mount Snowdon to raise funds for research into allergic reactions that can happen when medications are administered before or during an operation that result in sudden, life-threatening emergencies.
In our group are the parents and sister of Alexandra Briess who died from a fatal allergic reaction to an anaesthetic in May 2021.
Unfortunately, there is not enough awareness and understanding of why these allergic reactions can occur during operations and more research is required.
In the UK, an estimated 1 in 3 adults have an allergic condition with allergy to medications accounting for 10% of this. Fatal, or near-fatal, allergic reactions are most frequently caused by prescribed medications.
We are raising funds for Allergy UK and Anaphylaxis UK to raise awareness and enhance education of perioperative allergy.
Thank you for your kind support.
