It's time to run the world's biggest half marathon, and will be raising money for the South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade!

With them based only a short walk from the finish line, and as one of their volunteers played a huge role in me believing I could run again, it was the clear choice to raise money for the fantastic work they do. I've been there when a volunteer receives a call out, and seen them drop everything and leave, not knowing when they will return.

Since 1866, South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB) have provided a Search and Rescue capability to the coastline of South Tyneside and further. In support of HMCG, they are “Always Ready” and provide a search, rope rescue and water rescue team, made up entirely of volunteers, saving lives on the cliffs and coast.

All money raised with go towards helping them meet major running costs such as purchase and replacement of rescue equipment, personal protection equipment, vehicle running costs, radios, First Aid equipment, training costs and insurance.
