Story

I am raising money to convert the family home to make it accessible for my 7 year old disabled son Alex who attends special school.

The current layout is unsuitable for his needs as spaces are not easily accessible, there are no ramps and narrow entrances make it extremely difficult to navigate around the house. Due to Alexs sensory processing needs, he gets easily overstimulated and will start stimming/ rocking or banging his head against hard surfaces/ radiators. The aim will to create a low arousal environment and stimulate Alex so he reach his full potential and gain some independence with support as he grows. The reconfigured layouts means Alex’s spaces will link together on the same level so wheelchair accessible with access outdoors ( one of Alex’s calming spaces - loves touching/ pulling plants and grass). I would also like to add a sensory room.

It will provide a much needed ground floor bedroom and bathroom as currently I have to carry him upstairs. This is becoming increasingly more dangerous as he grows, it is also becoming more detrimental to my own health causing back issues.

Heating system is going to be installed throughout

Provision of off road parking as currently this is being done on the road which can be difficult at times dependent upon traffic.

The project is ready to go with building regs/ planning/ DFG all approved.

Many thanks for your support
