24 Hour, 100 Mile Backyard Ultramarathon · 21 March 2026

For over 45 years Phyllis Tuckwell has been supporting and caring for patients and families who have been given the worst possible news in West Surrey & North East Hampshire. We rely on the support of our community as we have to raise over £30,000 every day to continue our amazing services.

Story

I am raising money in memory of my Nanny Pam, my wonderful grandmother, who sadly passed away late last year. She was the most caring, kind and loving lady — someone who would do absolutely anything for her family.

What I remember most from the years she battled cancer is her selflessness. Even when she was the one suffering, she never made it about herself. Through all the pain and uncertainty, her only concern was that we were okay. No matter what she was going through, she always put us first. That’s who she was.

She truly inspired me. Watching her face everything she did and still carry a smile makes it hard to complain about running 100 miles. There are far worse things in this world. And it’s not just my grandmother — there are so many people battling illness or struggling with mental health who continue to show strength, courage and resilience every single day without complaint and making the most of life.

I feel incredibly grateful to even have the opportunity to take on something like this, when so many people don't ever get the chance. Gratitude is something I will carry with me every single mile of this run.

So to break it down: To raise money in Nanny Pam’s memory, I will be taking part in the 24 Hour Lone Wolf Backyard Ultramarathon. It’s a 4.2 mile loop that restarts on the hour, every hour, for 24 hours straight. My goal is to complete all 24 loops — totalling 100 miles.

In other words… four marathons, back to back.

The way I’d love to raise money for this challenge is through a pledge per loop. For example, if you pledge £1 per loop and I complete all 24 loops, your total donation would be £24.

My goal is to complete all 24 loops — the full 100 miles — and I will give everything I have to achieve that. However, as with any endurance event, there’s always the possibility of injury or being unable to continue. I don’t think it would be fair to expect people to donate the full amount if I’m unable to finish.

So whatever I complete, you simply donate based on the number of loops I manage to run. Every single loop will count, and every mile will be for Nanny Pam.

Any Donation would be greatly appreciated
